Nanako Matsushima is set to headline the upcoming drama Okome no Onna – Kokuzeikyoku Shiryo Chosaka Zatsukokushitsu –, which will air every Thursday at 9 p.m. on TV Asahi beginning January 8. Known as one of Japan’s most iconic actresses, Matsushima’s return to a leading role has already drawn significant attention.

The drama is set within a newly established and fictional department under the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau. This unit, informally known as “Zakkoku,” specializes in handling the most complicated and sensitive national tax cases—matters that ordinary tax offices struggle to resolve. Matsushima plays Yoneda Seiko, the founder of this special division. With sharp insight and unwavering resolve, she assembles a team of uniquely skilled individuals to expose and punish malicious tax evaders.
Through the lens of high-stakes tax investigations, the series explores the darker corners of society, blending realism with suspense. As intricate cases unfold, viewers will follow Seiko and her team into a world where money, power, and deception intersect, offering a fresh take that merges workplace drama with social mystery.
