SPECIALS centers on a group of professional assassins who usually operate alone. The members come from different age groups and backgrounds, with contrasting personalities and little experience working as a team. They are offered a mission with an exceptionally high reward, but the condition is unexpected: the only way to eliminate the mysterious target is to win a dance competition. With no dance experience, minimal cooperation, and unclear motivation, the ad hoc team begins taking the challenge seriously, leading to an unusual and high-stakes journey.

Sakuma Daisuke plays Dia, a former legendary assassin who has since abandoned his violent past. Now living a quiet life as a gentle assistant at an orphanage, Dia’s contrasting identities form the emotional core of the story and drive the narrative forward.

The supporting cast includes Kippei Shiina, Nakamoto Yuta (NCT), Sho Aoyagi, Hitoshi Ozawa, Aki Maeda, Yuzuki Hirakawa, Kenichi Yajima, and Naomasa Musaka, adding depth and variety to the ensemble. The film’s theme song, “Odorouze!”, is performed by Snow Man, reinforcing the film’s energetic and rhythmic tone.

Judging from the trailer, SPECIALS aims to offer a fresh take on the action genre by combining intense missions with dance-based competition, while exploring themes of teamwork, identity, and personal transformation. The film is shaping up to be one of the more distinctive Japanese releases to watch in 2026.
