Actor Ahn Bo Hyun recently shared his thoughts on starring in the upcoming romantic comedy “Spring Fever,” revealing why he chose the project and how he prepared for his role.
“Spring Fever” tells the love story between Yoon Bom (Lee Joo Bin), an emotionally distant high school teacher, and Seon Jae Gyu (Ahn Bo Hyun), a passionate man who gradually melts her guarded heart.

Ahn Bo Hyun plays Seon Jae Gyu, a figure who draws attention in the village due to his bold and unconventional behavior. Despite his large build and rough first impression, Jae Gyu possesses a surprising charm rooted in his passion and unwavering devotion. After meeting Yoon Bom, his once straightforward life begins to shift, swaying gently like a spring breeze.

Explaining his decision to take on the role, Ahn Bo Hyun said he was immediately drawn to the character’s appeal, particularly Jae Gyu’s use of dialect and the drama’s fast-paced storytelling. He also noted that the seaside town setting added to the project’s charm, and as a Busan native, he felt confident portraying the regional dialect naturally.
In describing the character, Ahn Bo Hyun explained that Jae Gyu is a straightforward man who does not retreat when Yoon Bom approaches him and who instinctively steps closer when she tries to pull away. While his exterior may appear strong or even intimidating, he is warmer than anyone on the inside and has a deep intolerance for injustice. These honest and sincere qualities, he believes, make the character especially endearing.
Ahn Bo Hyun also spoke about his physical preparation for the role. To convey Jae Gyu’s imposing presence and physique, he maintained a consistent workout routine throughout filming, regardless of whether he had scheduled shoots. He even brought exercise equipment such as dumbbells to the set to train whenever possible.
When asked to describe the main characters using three keywords, Ahn Bo Hyun chose “energy” to represent Seon Jae Gyu, “steadfast love” for Yoon Bom, and “doting uncle” for Seon Han Gyeol (played by Cho Jun Young).
Reflecting on the filming experience, Ahn Bo Hyun shared that the cast and crew enjoyed working together in Pohang through both the heat of summer and the cold of winter. He expressed hope that viewers would feel the same vibrant energy when the drama airs, and asked for continued interest and support.
“Spring Fever” is scheduled to premiere on January 5, 2026 at 8:50 p.m. KST.
