A Fairytale Proposal and the Reality of Marriage: Jin Sha’s Happiness and the Different Outcomes of Age-Gap Love

Few expected Jin Sha—once known for her love of idol dramas and CEO-style romance novels—to truly live out a fairytale in real life. An only child raised in a privileged family, she rose to fame as the campus goddess in Unbeatable Youth, the unforgettable “white moonlight” in The Myth, and a favored junior of JJ Lin. Despite success in both music and acting, she remained single until the age of 39.

That changed when her relationship with Sun Chengxiao, 17 years her junior, became public. At first, the backlash was intense. Sun was only 22 and still in school, and many assumed he was seeking fame rather than love. Yet through variety shows such as Island Youth, his sincerity, humility, and diligence gradually won over the public. Over nearly three years together, the relationship proved steady and genuine.

Recently, Sun proposed to Jin Sha in Iceland, marking a milestone in a romance once widely doubted. In fact, as early as 2023, he had carefully designed a “lucky day” proposal concept, weaving small coincidences into an imagined moment of commitment. What once existed only as a plan has now become reality, and Jin Sha’s lighthearted comment—calling chocolate her wedding candy—captured her enduring sense of romance.

Sun Chengxiao defies the stereotype of a “kept man.” His contributions to the relationship were never financial, but emotional and practical. He cooked extensively for Jin Sha, supported her physically during challenging trips, and even proposed a prenuptial agreement to ensure independence. When rumors arose, he addressed them immediately, and Jin Sha stood firmly by his side. Their relationship reflects mutual dedication rather than dependency.

As age-gap romances gain popularity in drama narratives, Jin Sha and Sun’s real-life story has come to be seen as a rare successful example. With both families meeting and wedding plans underway, their partnership suggests that compatibility matters far more than numbers.

In contrast, the marriage of actors Dai Xiangyu and Chen Zihan illustrates the fragility such relationships can face. Once united in their decision to remain child-free, differing views on family, repeated IVF failures, and mounting pressures led their marriage into crisis. Though affection once existed, trust and alignment gradually eroded.

Other rumored strains, such as those involving Wei Daxun and Qin Lan, further highlight how difficult it can be to preserve intimacy under constant scrutiny.

Jin Sha’s story stands apart not because of the age difference, but because she waited for a relationship grounded in mutual responsibility and emotional commitment. Time does not define love; it merely reveals its truth. For that reason, her happiness feels earned—and worthy of lasting celebration.
