The upcoming kidnapping thriller Sister has released new stills spotlighting Cha Joo Young in a role that places her at the center of a tense and psychologically charged survival story.
Sister unfolds as a dark thriller that exposes the hidden connections between three individuals bound by crime and blood. The film follows Hae Ran, portrayed by Jung Zi So, who orchestrates the abduction of her sister in exchange for a massive ransom; Tae Su, played by Lee Soo Hyuk, the cold and calculating mastermind behind the entire scheme; and So Jin, the captive who must fight relentlessly to stay alive.

So Jin’s nightmare begins when she is kidnapped by Hae Ran, a half-sister she never knew existed, and Tae Su, whose ruthless planning leaves no room for mercy. With no understanding of why she has been chosen as the target, So Jin is pushed into an extreme psychological and physical ordeal. Trapped in a situation beyond her control, she is forced to face fear, desperation, and impossible choices, ultimately forming a dangerous and uneasy alliance with her captors as she searches for a way to survive.
The newly released stills intensify the film’s ominous atmosphere. In one image, So Jin walks alone through a rain-soaked street at night, the darkness and isolation foreshadowing the grim fate that awaits her. Another still depicts her bound and imprisoned, seemingly on the brink of despair. Yet her unflinching gaze, fixed straight ahead, suggests a fierce inner resolve and an unbroken will to escape, hinting at a potential counterattack and an unpredictable struggle against Tae Su.
With its focus on psychological tension, fractured family ties, and survival under extreme pressure, Sister promises a gripping cinematic experience. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 28, 2026.
