Sugimoto Ari and Tanaka Gakuto lead the cast of the new television drama “The Puppy-Like Guy I Picked Up Is Actually an Heir!?” (original title: “Michibata de Hirowareta Wanko-kei Danshi wa Onzoshi!?”), which began exclusive streaming on FOD SHORT at 12:00 a.m. on January 2. The series consists of a total of 70 episodes.

The story blends romantic comedy with everyday struggles. Sugimoto Ari plays Takami Aiyu, a café employee burdened by mounting hospital bills for her mother and debts left behind by her father. Her already difficult life takes an unexpected turn when she rescues a seemingly helpless young man named Shishio Ren, whom she finds collapsed on the roadside.
Although Ren appears gentle, clingy, and harmless, he is in fact the eldest son of the powerful Shishio conglomerate. Choosing to hide his true identity, Ren stays by Aiyu’s side, quietly supporting her and secretly resolving various problems that arise in her life. As their bond deepens, tensions within the Shishio family intensify, with rumors and conflicts surrounding the succession growing increasingly fierce.
The drama also features a supporting cast including Harada Shu, Minagawa Naoyoshi, Sato Jin, Seto Yusuke, Hiraoka Emi, Ikeda Eri, Hotta Shinzo, and Suzuki Hiromi. With its short-form structure and fast-paced storytelling, the series offers a modern romance that explores love, social disparity, and family power struggles in a format tailored for digital viewing.
