Recent remarks by Lin Xinru on a variety program have drawn attention to her husband Wallace Huo’s approach to spending. According to Lin, Huo is extremely frugal when it comes to himself—using the same phone for years even with a cracked screen—but is generous and decisive when it comes to family, especially their daughter.

Though shared casually, the story resonated with many viewers. Rather than displays of extravagance, the discussion centered on responsibility and priorities, highlighting a form of care expressed through everyday choices rather than public gestures.

Lin Xinru has also acknowledged that the couple holds different attitudes toward consumption. While she describes herself as someone who budgets carefully yet is willing to spend when necessary, Huo prefers a more restrained lifestyle. What stands out, however, is that neither expects the other to conform. Lin has previously stated that maintaining financial independence within marriage is natural for them and not a source of conflict.

Their relationship did not begin with instant romance. The two first met in 2006 while working on the drama Subway, remaining close friends for nearly a decade. Huo later admitted that the depth of their friendship made him cautious, as crossing that line carried the risk of losing an important bond altogether.

A shift occurred during the production of The Glamorous Imperial Concubine, when Lin, acting as producer, invited Huo to join the cast based on suitability and trust. Despite ongoing speculation, both consistently denied romantic involvement until Lin’s 40th birthday, when Huo rearranged his schedule to be by her side, marking a turning point in their relationship.

The couple publicly confirmed their relationship and married in 2016, welcoming their daughter the following year. Since then, Huo has taken a lower-profile approach to his career, focusing more on family life. Lin has shared that his parenting style leans toward protection and careful guidance rather than indulgence.

From a decade-long friendship to marriage, their relationship reflects a model grounded not in spectacle, but in long-term trust, emotional stability, and respect for personal boundaries. It is a partnership that developed slowly, yet continues to endure with quiet consistency.
