GOT7’s Park Jinyoung and actress Kim Min Ju have officially been confirmed as the leads of the upcoming drama “Shining.” The series tells the story of young people who once shared a world of their own and, over time, come to rely on each other as sources of trust and light in their lives.

“Shining” will be directed by Kim Yoon Jin, known for “Our Beloved Summer,” and written by Lee Sook Yeon of “A Piece of Your Mind.” With a creative team recognized for emotionally grounded storytelling, the drama has drawn attention since its announcement.

Park Jinyoung stars as Yeon Tae Seo, a train conductor who approaches life with clear-eyed realism. Living by the motto, “Just get through today safely,” Yeon Tae Seo prioritizes his present life over distant dreams or long-term plans. After achieving the independence he once longed for and settling into a steady routine, he unexpectedly reunites with his first love from when he was 19, introducing subtle yet meaningful changes to his everyday life. Beneath his cool and restrained exterior, Yeon Tae Seo is a character marked by quiet tenderness and emotional depth.

Kim Min Ju plays Mo Eun Ah, Yeon Tae Seo’s first love. Known for her warmth, emotional sincerity, and approachable charm, Mo Eun Ah is a former hotelier who now works as a manager at a traditional-style stay in Seoul. As she reflects on how and with whom she wants to live, she experiences both small achievements and significant setbacks, until an unexpected reunion with her first love reshapes her path. Through Mo Eun Ah, Kim Min Ju portrays a woman navigating reality while reconnecting with emotions she once left behind.

At its core, “Shining” traces the emotional journey of two people who first met during a summer vacation at age 19, shared tender memories, and reunite as adults. The series raises questions about how those memories—known only to them—will influence who they are today and what changes they may bring to each other’s lives.
