A new Japanese romance drama starring Taecyeon (2PM) and Isomura Hayato has officially confirmed its release date. On January 27, the series Soul Mate was revealed as part of a major 2026 content lineup in Japan, drawing attention for its international scope and emotional focus.

Written and directed by Hashizume Shunki, Soul Mate tells a decade-spanning love story between two men, unfolding across Berlin, Seoul, and Tokyo. The series explores how chance encounters can reshape lives, using time and distance as key narrative elements.

Isomura Hayato stars as Ryu Narutaki, a man who leaves everything behind in Japan in search of a different life. Taecyeon plays Johan Hwang, a boxer who has long avoided confronting his emotional scars. Their paths cross unexpectedly in a foreign church, where Johan saves Ryu’s life—an incident that becomes the starting point of a profound connection.

As the years pass, the two men gradually influence one another, learning to face unresolved pain and redefining their understanding of love, identity, and what it means to truly live. Rather than focusing on dramatic turns, the story emphasizes emotional evolution and quiet transformation.

Soul Mate is scheduled to premiere on May 14, 2026. With its cross-cultural setting and introspective narrative, the drama is already being regarded as one of the most anticipated romance projects of the year.
