NCT member Jisung marked his birthday with a meaningful act of giving, choosing to support medical research rather than personal celebrations.
On February 5, Samsung Medical Center announced that Jisung donated 250 million won (approximately USD 170,700) in research funding to commemorate his birthday. The contribution will be allocated to pancreatic cancer research, an area considered particularly challenging due to difficulties in early diagnosis and treatment.

In a statement shared through the hospital, Jisung explained that witnessing patients endure illnesses with limited treatment options left a strong impression on him. He expressed hope that his donation, though modest, could contribute to advancements in medical technology and help more people live without prolonged pain. He also credited the support of NCT’s fandom, NCTzen, saying that the love he has received from fans motivated him to participate in charitable giving and inspired him to give back to society.
A representative from Samsung Medical Center noted that the donation would play a meaningful role in advancing research on intractable diseases, including personalized medicine approaches for pancreatic cancer.
This is not Jisung’s first act of philanthropy. In the previous year, he donated 50 million won (approximately USD 34,150) to the Community Chest of Korea to assist recovery efforts following wildfire damage in the Yeongnam region, continuing a pattern of consistent charitable involvement.
