In recent years, audiences have noticed that Wang Ziqi has appeared less frequently in CEO-style roles and has instead taken on more period drama projects. This shift does not suggest that he has abandoned such roles altogether, but rather reflects a temporary adjustment in response to changing market conditions.

The CEO drama genre has become increasingly crowded, particularly with the rapid rise of similar characters in short-form productions. This has placed pressure on long-form productions and narrowed opportunities for actors previously associated with these roles. As a result, actors with some room for flexibility often explore alternative genres to avoid stagnation in an oversaturated field.

Against this backdrop, Wang Ziqi’s involvement in period dramas can be seen as a strategic exploration. Over the past two years, period dramas have maintained strong popularity, ranking just below CEO-themed stories in overall attention. Establishing a presence in this genre may offer both visibility and creative growth. At present, his choice appears to be a transitional move rather than a permanent shift in direction.
