The period romance drama “Love Story in the 1970s” is officially set to premiere on February 21, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. Starring Chen Feiyu and Sun Qian, with special appearances by Guo Xiaoting and Wang Tianchen, the series tells a heartfelt love story set in the 1970s.

It was a time before smartphones and smart technology—when youth was simple and sincere. Riding classic bicycles through blooming rapeseed fields, laughing under bright moonlit skies, and sharing everyday joys—these nostalgic moments are vividly captured in the drama’s trailer.
The story centers on Fei Ni (Sun Qian), a factory worker who dreams of attending university despite working at a hat factory after high school. Determined and diligent, she studies in her spare time while seeking opportunities to further her education. Fang Muyang (Chen Feiyu), her former elementary school classmate, returns into her life after years apart when he is injured while rescuing someone.

Hoping to earn a university recommendation through caring for a “model hero,” Fei Ni volunteers to look after him in the hospital. However, circumstances shift when Fang Muyang wakes up with temporary memory loss, and Fei Ni ultimately loses the recommendation opportunity.
Encouraged by officials to marry—partly for housing allocation—the two enter into a marriage of convenience, agreeing to keep emotional distance. Yet over time, their daily life softens the boundaries between them. Fang Muyang, artistic and attentive, contributes to their home life, while Fei Ni remains steadfast in her ambitions.

Through shared hardships, including natural disasters and heartfelt confessions, their relationship gradually transforms into genuine love. When the national college entrance exam is reinstated, they join countless young people in pursuing higher education, stepping toward brighter futures together.
Warm and grounded, the drama offers a gentle, nostalgic look at love and growth in a simpler era—perfect for viewers seeking comfort and heartfelt storytelling.
