SBS’s upcoming drama Phantom Lawyer has revealed new stills featuring a special appearance by actor Heo Sung Tae, drawing attention ahead of the drama’s premiere.
Phantom Lawyer is described as a quirky yet heartfelt legal drama that follows lawyer Yoo Yeon Seok’s character Shin I Rang, a man with the unusual ability to see ghosts. Alongside elite attorney Han Na Hyun, played by Esom, he takes on unconventional legal cases brought by clients who are no longer alive. Through these unusual encounters, the duo attempts to resolve the lingering grievances of spirits who suffered unjust fates during their lifetimes.

Each case in Phantom Lawyer focuses on the stories of deceased individuals whose unresolved anger or regrets keep them tied to the living world. By navigating the space between legal reasoning and supernatural elements, the drama presents a unique concept in which the law becomes a tool for settling unfinished matters left behind by the dead.
In the first episode, Heo Sung Tae will make a special appearance as Lee Kang Poong, the first ghost client encountered by Shin I Rang after the lawyer becomes possessed and begins seeing spirits. The character’s past and the reasons he remains in the human world filled with resentment have not yet been revealed, leaving viewers curious about the case that will unfold.
One of the newly released stills shows Lee Kang Poong with a pale, lifeless expression, emphasizing his ghostly presence. The mysterious atmosphere of the scene hints at the unusual legal dilemma that will arise when Shin I Rang, portrayed by Yoo Yeon Seok, meets his first supernatural client.
Behind-the-scenes photos present a completely different mood. Yoo Yeon Seok and Heo Sung Tae stand side by side smiling brightly at the camera and making peace signs, creating a warm and playful contrast to the eerie tone of their on-screen characters.
According to the production team, Lee Kang Poong plays a particularly meaningful role in the narrative because he is the first client to introduce the drama’s core idea of “grievance-settling defense.” Through this concept, the legal team works to resolve the grudges of those who experienced injustice in life.
The producers also expressed gratitude to Heo Sung Tae for taking on the cameo role, noting that his appearance helps establish the tone of the story and sets the stage for the drama’s unusual cases. They encouraged viewers to look forward to his performance when the series begins.
Phantom Lawyer, starring Yoo Yeon Seok and Esom, is scheduled to premiere on March 13 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
