Three rising K-pop idols are set to take on a new role as hosts of the popular music program M Countdown. On March 11, Mnet officially announced that So Jung Hwan, Park Gun Wook, and Kyehoon will become the show’s new MCs, bringing fresh energy to the long-running weekly broadcast.

The trio represents different K-pop groups currently active in the industry. So Jung Hwan is a member of TREASURE, Park Gun Wook comes from ZEROBASEONE, and Kyehoon represents the group KickFlip. Their collaboration as hosts is expected to introduce a new dynamic to M Countdown, a program that continues to serve as a key stage for K-pop promotions.

New MCs Share Their Excitement

Ahead of their debut as hosts, So Jung Hwan expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity. He noted that the powerful performances of TREASURE have always aimed to deliver energy to audiences, and he hopes to carry that same atmosphere into his role on M Countdown. According to So Jung Hwan, his goal is to help create a welcoming environment where viewers and artists alike can enjoy the show together.

Meanwhile, Park Gun Wook spoke about following in the footsteps of his ZEROBASEONE bandmate. The position had previously been held by Sung Han Bin, making the transition particularly meaningful. Park Gun Wook shared that he feels both happy and honored to take over a role that his teammate had cherished for a long time, adding that he intends to work hard as a new MC alongside his co-hosts.

For Kyehoon, the appointment carries personal significance as well. The idol recalled that M Countdown was the first music program where he performed after debuting with KickFlip. Returning to the same stage as a host now feels special to him. Kyehoon also joked about bringing his own signature “Kyehoon-like” refreshing energy to the show while helping promote K-pop culture.

A New Dynamic for the Long-Running Music Show

The production team behind M Countdown also shared their expectations regarding the new hosting lineup. According to the staff, the combination of So Jung Hwan, Park Gun Wook, and Kyehoon brings together three artists with distinct personalities and charms.

The team believes that the chemistry between the three idols will create a lively atmosphere and add new enjoyment for viewers. Through their teamwork and spontaneous hosting style, the new MC trio is expected to introduce fresh energy to the program.

Continuing the Tradition of M Countdown

Since its launch, M Countdown has remained one of the most influential weekly music shows in the K-pop industry. The program not only features performances from leading artists but also plays a role in connecting global audiences with the latest trends in Korean pop music.

With So Jung Hwan, Park Gun Wook, and Kyehoon stepping into the MC positions, viewers will soon see how the new trio shapes the program’s on-screen chemistry. As they begin their hosting journey, the three idols are set to become familiar faces guiding fans through the weekly celebration of K-pop performances on M Countdown.
