MBC’s upcoming drama Perfect Crown has drawn attention after unveiling a new group poster featuring its four central characters. The series stars IU, Byeon Woo Seok, Noh Sang Hyun, and Gong Seung Yeon, presenting a story that blends romance, politics, and royal intrigue within an alternative version of modern Korea.

Set in a fictional world where contemporary South Korea operates as a constitutional monarchy, Perfect Crown follows the complicated relationship between Sung Hee Joo, played by IU, and Grand Prince Yi An, portrayed by Byeon Woo Seok. Sung Hee Joo is the wealthy heiress of a powerful chaebol family who appears to possess everything, yet remains a commoner by status. In contrast, Yi An is the son of the king but lives with little real power or resources despite his royal lineage. Their union begins as a strategic marriage born from ambition rather than love.

The newly released poster introduces four characters who stand at the center of the drama’s political and royal conflicts. In the image, Sung Hee Joo, Grand Prince Yi An, Queen Mother Yoon Yi Rang, played by Gong Seung Yeon, and Prime Minister Min Jung Woo, portrayed by Noh Sang Hyun, stand inside a palace setting with composed and dignified expressions. Together, the four figures represent key forces shaping the balance between the royal family, political leadership, and powerful economic interests.

Among the group, Sung Hee Joo—played by IU—is the only character identified as a commoner. In the poster, she rests her arm lightly on Yi An’s shoulder, while the prince leans subtly toward her. Their body language hints that although their marriage initially begins as a calculated alliance, the two may gradually develop a deeper sense of trust and reliance as husband and wife.

Meanwhile, Queen Mother Yoon Yi Rang and Prime Minister Min Jung Woo command attention with their direct gaze toward the viewer, suggesting the complex political tensions that will shape the story. The dynamic among these four characters is expected to form the core of the drama’s narrative, where personal ambitions, royal authority, and political maneuvering intersect.

Accompanying the image is a caption that reads, “The door to the royal family has opened,” hinting at the dramatic events and hidden conflicts that await inside the palace walls.

Perfect Crown, starring IU and Byeon Woo Seok, is scheduled to premiere on April 10 at 9:40 p.m. KST.
