Introduction to the Partnership

Alaska Airlines has renewed its partnership with Air Space Intelligence (ASI) to further enhance its operational efficiency and sustainability goals. This collaboration has been pivotal in helping the airline reduce its carbon footprint and optimize fuel consumption.

The Role of Flyways AI Platform

For the past four years, Alaska Airlines has utilized ASI’s Flyways AI platform and the dispatch application in their network operations center. The Flyways platform supports dispatchers in planning flight routes more effectively, which results in significant reductions in fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

Impact on Sustainability Goals

By employing Flyways AI, Alaska Airlines has successfully decreased fuel use and emissions by 3-5 percent for flights that exceed four hours. In the previous year alone, the platform enabled the airline to save 1.2 million gallons of fuel, translating to an impressive reduction of 11,958 megatons of CO2 emissions. This contribution is crucial for Alaska Airlines as they strive towards achieving their net zero carbon emissions goal.

Conclusion

The renewed partnership between Alaska Airlines and Air Space Intelligence marks a significant step in leveraging artificial intelligence for both operational efficiency and environmental sustainability. Moving forward, the collaboration aims to continue advancing the airline’s sustainability initiatives, aligning with global efforts to mitigate climate change impacts.
