Introduction to Malaysia’s Durian Tour Packages

Malaysia’s tourism industry has recently unveiled an exciting array of 62 new tour packages, inviting tourists to explore the country’s renowned durian orchards. Priced up to $960, these packages offer a blend of durian-centric activities and additional experiences like glamping and jungle trekking.

Tour Packages Across Malaysian States

These tour packages, managed by 27 tour operators, are available across 12 Malaysian states, including Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Kelantan, and Sabah. According to Saidi Bundan, Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia, this initiative aims to provide tourists with a unique and immersive experience.

Durian Eating and Luxury Experiences

For those interested in durian eating activities, a visit to Relau and Kedah costs RM70 ($40) per person. Alternatively, for a more luxurious experience, tourists can opt for a three-day-two-night itinerary in Bentong Bilut Hills and Pahang, costing up to RM4,450 ($960). This package includes durian picking, cooking classes, glamping services, and jungle trekking.

Specialty Tour Packages

One of the recommended luxury tour packages is the Penang Golf Experience, which includes a four-night stay at the Bukit Jawi Golf Resort, golf course activities, and tastings of various types of durian fruit. Another popular option is the minimalist forest glamping tour, offering a two-night stay in a retreat-style forest chalet, complete with hot springs and a lunch featuring nasi lemak durian.

Conclusion

Durian tourism thrives in Malaysia, particularly during the harvest season from late May to August. According to Akbal Setia, Vice President of Tourism Malaysia for the Americas, these new packages offer visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in local traditions and experience the cultural significance of durian. Malaysia aims to welcome over 27 million foreign tourists this year, with these innovative tour packages playing a vital role.
