Countries Requiring Entry Permits for Singapore Passport Holders

Introduction

Despite holding one of the most powerful passports in the world, Singapore passport holders still need to apply for entry permits to visit certain countries. This is crucial information for travelers to ensure smooth planning and hassle-free experiences.

Visa Requirements for Popular Destinations

Countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Bhutan require Singapore passport holders to secure travel permits before entry. For example, to visit Australia, Singaporeans must apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) that allows for multiple visits within a year, valid for up to 90 days per stay. The application process is simple and can be done via an app with a fee of AU$20 (approx. US$13.24), with results typically available within 24 hours.

Additional Countries and Their Entry Requirements

In Canada, the ETA is also necessary, valid for five years allowing stays of up to 180 days. Singaporeans should also note that New Zealand mandates an ETA costing NZ$17 (US$10.17) or NZ$23 via the website, along with a tourism levy. For travel to India, a tourist visa must be obtained online, which is valid for 60 days from entry. Other countries like the United States and Bhutan also have specific entry requirements where, despite being part of the visa waiver program, electronic permission is still needed for entry.

Lastly, Singaporeans travelling to Egypt need to apply for an e-visa prior to their travel, which is valid for 30 days. It’s important for travelers to familiarize themselves with these requirements to avoid any travel disruptions.
