The film ‘366 Days,’ inspired by the beloved song by the band hy, is set for a nationwide release on January 10, 2025. Originally launched in 2008, hy’s hit song elegantly portrays the complexities of unrequited love, resonating with fans of all ages as it nears its 25th anniversary in September 2024. The movie creatively expands upon this iconic song, weaving a poignant narrative around the themes of love and loss.

 

The Story Unfolds

This original tale centers around Minato Makiya, a high school student residing in Okinawa, who encounters Miumi Tamashiro, a junior at his school. The two bond over their shared passion for music, leading to a cherished relationship that blooms as Minato graduates. After facing the tragic loss of his mother, Minato contemplates abandoning his aspirations of a music career. Yet, Miumi’s encouragement pushes him towards pursuing his dreams. Their paths intertwine once more in Tokyo, where they establish a joyful life together while each chasing their respective ambitions.

The Cast and Crew

Portraying Minato is Eiji Akaso, recognized for his roles in popular dramas and films, making this his first solo theatrical release in three years. The character of Miumi is brought to life by Moka Kamishiraishi, a versatile actress also known for her musical talents. The film is directed by Takehiko Shinjo, a revered storyteller renowned for his depictions of love, who skillfully navigates the emotional landscape of the narrative that spans two decades.
