Excitement is building as it was officially announced on August 27 that former Gugudan member Kim Nayoung and talented actor Seo Byeok Jun have been cast as the leads in the upcoming thriller drama My Boyfriend’s Smartphone (literal translation). Written and directed by Lee Seok Yong, this short-form thriller promises to grip viewers with its suspenseful plot and compelling characters.

Plot and Characters

Kim Nayoung will play Ji Yoo, a vibrant character who runs a couple YouTube channel. Her boyfriend, Su Ho, portrayed by Seo Byeok Jun, is affectionate and wins over subscribers with his sweet and loving nature. However, the drama takes a dark turn when Ji Yoo accidentally looks through Su Ho’s smartphone, leading her into a web of hidden secrets and a suspenseful chase. Determined and steadfast, Ji Yoo confronts harsh truths and seeks revenge on her once-trusted boyfriend.

Kim Nayoung, who debuted as a member of the girl group Gugudan in 2016, began her acting career with the musical Mefisto in 2019. She has since built a diverse portfolio, appearing in various musicals, theaters, and web dramas. Seo Byeok Jun has also carved a niche for himself in the acting world, with notable performances in dramas such as Dare to Love MeStrangers Again, and Let’s Eat 3: Begins. He has portrayed a range of characters, from a villain in Battle for Happiness to a romantic lead in The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch.

Launch Details

The highly anticipated drama My Boyfriend’s Smartphone is set to premiere on September 4 on the global content platform Shortime. It will launch simultaneously in South Korea, the United States, Japan, and Taiwan. Fans and viewers worldwide are eagerly awaiting the debut of this thrilling series, which promises to deliver intense drama and captivating performances.
