Hong Kong International Airport has once again claimed the title of “Asia’s Leading Airport” at this year’s World Travel Awards, surpassing Singapore’s Changi Airport for the second consecutive year. Known for its relentless pursuit of excellence, the Hong Kong airport continues to set benchmarks in the aviation industry.

Hong Kong International Airport’s Achievements

Spanning 1,900 hectares and operational since 1998, Hong Kong International Airport connects passengers to 220 destinations via 120 airlines. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw its passenger numbers drop to 39.5 million last year (55% of its 2019 figures), the airport has maintained its superior standards and service quality, earning the top spot in Asia once again.

Changi Airport’s Illustrious History

Changi Airport, known for its state-of-the-art amenities including the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, has been a top contender in the rankings of best airports globally. It offers a plethora of services such as duty-free shopping, an indoor rainforest, and luxury hotels, making it a standout facility. Before the pandemic, Changi held the title of Asia’s Leading Airport for several years.

The World Travel Awards

The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are regarded as the pinnacle of achievement in the travel and tourism industry, often referred to as the “Oscars of the Travel Industry.” These annual awards recognize excellence and are determined by votes from both travel industry professionals and the general public.

In an ever-evolving industry, the competition between Hong Kong International Airport and Changi Airport exemplifies the high standards and innovations in airport management. As Hong Kong celebrates its latest accolade, the title of Asia’s Leading Airport reflects its commitment to providing exceptional services and amenities to travelers worldwide.
