Introduction to ‘Megami Korin’

Koki plays the lead role in the upcoming film ‘Megami Korin,’ inspired by a popular Korean webtoon. This captivating story, which intertwines elements from both Korean and Japanese cultures, follows the protagonist Tanigawa Reina over a nine-year journey of self-discovery, love, and the quest to pursue her dreams.

Synopsis and Character Development

At the heart of ‘Megami Korin’ is Reina, portrayed by Koki, whose gloomy appearance leads her to experience bullying during her high school years, ultimately causing her to drop out. However, after mastering the art of makeup, she transforms into a ‘goddess’ admired by her peers. Determined to reinvent herself at a new school, Reina’s journey takes a turn when her classmate Kanda Shun, played by Watanabe Keisuke, uncovers the truth behind her ‘no makeup’ secret.

Film Release and Audience Expectations

‘Megami Korin’ is uniquely structured in two parts: ‘Megami Korin Before,’ premiering on March 20, 2025, and ‘Megami Korin After,’ set for release on May 1, 2025. The film promises to merge heartwarming storytelling with significant themes of personal growth and acceptance. With the exceptional performances from Koki, Watanabe Keisuke, and Tsuna Keito, audiences are eagerly awaiting a cinematic experience that challenges societal perceptions of beauty and self-worth.
