Introduction to Nakae Yuri’s New Role

In a remarkable comeback, actress Nakae Yuri is set to grace the screen once again in her first leading role in 26 years. The film, titled ‘Michikusa Kitchen,’ is directed by the renowned Shiraha Mitsuhito, known for celebrated works such as ‘Ashiya no Kyushoku’ and ‘Philippines Pub Jo no Shakaigaku.’

 

The Journey of Katsuragi Ritsu

‘Michikusa Kitchen’ tells the poignant story of Katsuragi Ritsu, portrayed by Nakae, a woman in her 50s grappling with solitude as she has no living relatives. Upon receiving an inheritance notice from Yoshinogawa City in Tokushima, she embarks on a journey that leads her to a new home. Through her interactions with the diverse local community—including Vietnamese residents facing their own struggles—Ritsu begins to confront and reassess her own life choices. The film beautifully intertwines personal discovery with cultural exploration, particularly through the lens of Vietnamese cuisine crafted from natural ingredients.
