Phu Quoc Island Becomes Prime Destination
Phu Quoc Island, located off the coast of the Mekong Delta, has emerged as the most popular international destination for tourists from South Korea. Surpassing renowned cities like Bangkok and Tokyo, Phu Quoc has captivated visitors with its pristine natural beauty and unique experiences.
Top-Ranked on Survey
According to a recent survey by Rankify Korea, Phu Quoc scored an impressive 12,855 points, leading the list of top 10 international destinations for Korean tourists. In comparison, Tokyo secured 3,796 points. The island is particularly favored by South Korean tourists aged 30-39, with 67% of them being women.
Appeal to Influential Personalities
Once considered a hidden gem, Phu Quoc has now gained significant attention. The island even charmed K-pop star Uee, who visited the destination twice within six months. Adding to the allure, popular blogger Mango Fairy, who has 16,000 followers on Naver, praised Phu Quoc as the ‘Maldives of Vietnam.’ She highlighted that the island offers beachfront villas with private pools that are superior in quality and more affordable than those in Phuket, Thailand.
Increasing Travel Accessibility
Travel to Phu Quoc has been made easier with four Korean airlines operating direct flights to the island. Eastar Jet recently joined the bandwagon, offering four weekly direct flights from Cheongju starting July 17 this year. As more direct flights become available, the number of South Korean visitors to Phu Quoc is expected to grow.
