Introduction to the Icon Group Controversy
Thai actress Min Pechaya recently found herself at the center of an alarming controversy regarding the Icon Group, a company under investigation for allegedly fraudulent practices that have reportedly led many individuals to financial ruin. During a press conference held on Saturday, Min expressed her profound regret for not conducting a meticulous examination of the company before endorsing its products and services.
Min Pechaya’s Role and Acknowledgment
Despite her role as a product ambassador for the Icon Group, Min clarified that she was never formally employed by the company, which offers beauty products, health supplements, and online courses. Having become affiliated with the Icon Group approximately a year ago, she initially perceived it to be a legitimate business. However, as reported by Thai PBS, Min admitted to neglecting to investigate the background of the company adequately, resulting in her heartfelt apology to those affected by the ensuing scandal.
Ongoing Investigations and Reactions
In the wake of the unfolding crisis, the Thai police disclosed that they have collected over 306 statements from individuals caught in the web of the company’s investment scheme. The investigation’s findings have shown that losses could reach an estimated 118 million baht (approximately USD 3.5 million). Deputy police spokesman Pol Col Uthane Nuipin outlined that a number of celebrities, including actor Pakorn Chatborirak, are also involved, as they similarly provided promotional insights without any direct engagement in leadership roles. As of now, Min has severed ties with the Icon Group, taking a stand against the grievances faced by the victims.
