Vicki Zhao’s Surprise Airport Interaction

On July 24, Chinese actress Vicki Zhao, known for her role in the 1998-1999 hit TV show “My Fair Princess,” was spotted engaging with fans at an airport. This marked her first public appearance after a long hiatus. Photos of Zhao were widely shared on Weibo and fan pages, capturing her return to Beijing from Yunnan, China.

Casual and Cool: Zhao’s Travel Style

When paparazzi questioned Zhao about traveling alone, she explained her preference for “freedom and comfort.” Fans also noticed her lack of luggage, to which she humorously responded, “I think it will make me look cooler.” As she exited the airport, Zhao reminded the paparazzi not to photograph her car’s license plate, maintaining her privacy.

Speculations Surrounding Zhao’s Personal Life

Entertainment bloggers have speculated about Zhao’s personal life, particularly regarding her relationship with her husband, Singaporean businessman Huang Youlong. Rumors suggest they may have finalized their divorce two years after filing, though neither has confirmed these speculations. Zhao’s last public appearance was in July 2021 at a Fendi event, where she served as the brand’s spokesperson in China.

Impact of Alleged Ban on Zhao’s Career

Following her Fendi event, all series and movies featuring Zhao were removed from video platforms, and her name vanished from movie awards portals. Brands she represented also purged or hid any content related to her on Weibo. This ban, as indicated by Baidu, is a common practice in China’s entertainment and sports industries for violations of moral or legal codes. Zhao, once considered one of China’s “four dan actresses,” has faced significant career setbacks due to the alleged ban.

Zhao’s Business Ventures and Wealth

Despite the controversies, Zhao has been successful in her business ventures. Since 1999, she has established multiple companies alongside her husband, amassing an estimated wealth of 4.5 billion yuan (US$625 million) by 2019. She ranked 912th on the Hurun China Rich List, showcasing her financial acumen and resilience.
