Introduction to Their Friendship

Wang Yuwen and Zhang Xincheng, both hailing from Hubei province, have been friends for 16 years. Their bond started when they met as students at the Affiliated Secondary School for Beijing Dance Academy in 2008. Over the years, their families also became close, often spending time together. This long-standing friendship has now translated into a professional collaboration for the first time in the drama ‘You Are My Lover Friend (舍不得星星)’.

The Awkward Kissing Scene

In a recent interview, Wang Yuwen shared her feelings about the on-screen kiss with her longtime friend Zhang Xincheng. She candidly described the experience as ‘a bit awkward’ and ‘cringey,’ revealing that she felt uncomfortable moving her lips during the scene. This sentiment was echoed by their families, who also found the situation uneasy to address. Even though the kiss became a trending topic, their parents opted to remain silent about it.

From Childhood Friends to On-Screen Couple

Wang Yuwen and Zhang Xincheng’s journey from childhood friends to on-screen couple is intriguing. Despite their close relationship, transitioning into romantic roles was challenging for Wang Yuwen. The 27-year-old actress expressed her surprise at how awkward it felt to kiss someone she had known since they were 12 years old. Amidst the awkwardness, it’s clear that their deep-rooted friendship has provided a strong foundation for their professional collaboration.

Reflecting on Their Journey

Wang Yuwen’s reflections on working with Zhang Xincheng underscore the complexities of blending personal and professional relationships. She noted how comfortable they are interacting with each other, both on and off the screen. This comfort level, however, did not entirely mitigate the awkwardness of their kissing scene. Nonetheless, their shared history and mutual respect make their collaboration in ‘You Are My Lover Friend’ a fascinating journey for long-time fans and new viewers alike.
