Miss Universe China 2024 Title Revocation
Xinying Zhu, crowned Miss Universe China 2024, has recently been stripped of her title due to her inability to fulfill the obligations associated with being a beauty queen. This decision was announced by the Miss Universe China organization on Thursday, highlighting concerns regarding age restrictions that affected Zhu’s eligibility.

Background of the Controversy
At the time of her win in December 2024, Zhu was just 18 years old and pursuing a degree in flight attendant training at Suzhou Aviation College. The organization clarified on social media that her age rendered her unable to meet the responsibilities required of a national representative in the pageant circuit. The announcement emphasized the need for candidates to conform to specific age regulations, which ultimately led to Zhu’s title being revoked.
Transition to New Titleholder
As a result of this situation, the title and the opportunity to represent China at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant have been awarded to the original first runner-up, Zhao Na. Renowned for her career as a fashion model, Zhao Na has garnered acclaim for her sophisticated style and has showcased work for various prestigious international designers. The Miss Universe China organization expressed optimism about her upcoming reign, stating they look forward to her contributions.

Earlier this year, discussions within the organization had entertained the idea of organizing two competitions—a July event and another in December 2024. The dynamics of these competitions revealed the organization’s proactive approach in identifying representatives while adhering to regulations, ensuring the best candidates are chosen to embody the role of Miss Universe China.
