New Flights from Siem Reap to Singapore

Low-cost carrier Airasia Cambodia has announced the launch of new flights connecting Siem Reap City to Singapore, set to commence on November 9. This service aims to enhance travel options for both tourists and locals, while further strengthening Cambodia’s position in the regional travel network. With its vibrant offerings, Siem Reap serves as the gateway to the iconic Angkor archaeological park, which is essential for attracting foreign visitors.

Impact on Local Economy and Employment

According to Nam Vissoth, CEO of Airasia Cambodia, these new services are anticipated to provide a much-needed boost to Cambodia’s local economy and tourism. The increase in connectivity is expected to promote job creation in the crucial hospitality industry. As tourism continues to recover, these developments represent a significant step towards enhancing the overall visitor experience in the country.

Recent Developments in Cambodian Tourism

In addition to the Siem Reap-Singapore route, Airasia Cambodia recently launched daily flights between Phnom Penh and Kuala Lumpur and announced a service from Siem Reap to Phuket beginning this winter. Data from the Ministry of Tourism indicates that Cambodia attracted 3.7 million foreign visitors in the first seven months of this year—a remarkable 23.2% increase compared to the previous year. This surge in tourism is a promising sign for the sector, further emphasized by ticket sales for Angkor park, which saw a 33% rise.
