Introduction

India, recognized as the world’s most populous country, is actively working to enhance its tourism appeal by extending the e-visa fee exemption for Thai tourists until December 31, 2024. This decision reflects the Indian government’s ongoing commitment to fostering tourism and facilitating travel between Thailand and India.

Details of the E-Visa Program

As per announcements made by the Indian embassy in Thailand, the e-tourist visa program now allows Thai visitors to apply for one or two entries, enabling them to stay for up to 30 days without incurring any visa fees. This initiative is particularly important as it provides greater accessibility to India, encouraging more tourists from Thailand to explore the country’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Increased Connectivity and Impact

In conjunction with the visa fee waiver, the Indian government has initiated plans to enhance flight connectivity between Thailand and India. This expansion will introduce an additional 7,000 seats weekly across six major cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Calcutta, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Such efforts aim to accommodate the anticipated rise in tourist numbers from Thailand, which has already established a friendly visa waiver for Indian travelers.
