The upcoming film Ai no Gotoko, starring Furuya Robin and Miyamori Remi, is set for theatrical release on January 23, 2026. Adapted from the short story collection of the same name by renowned author Yamakawa Masao, the film explores the lingering emotions of love and the quiet beauty of personal rebirth.

At the center of the story is Hayao, a novelist portrayed by Furuya, whose life has come to a standstill following the death of a person who once served as his spiritual compass. In the wake of that loss, Hayao encounters his former lover, Izumi (played by Miyamori), and is gradually pulled into a renewed, emotionally layered relationship that blurs the line between past regrets and present possibilities.

Their reunion is far from simple. As memories resurface and unresolved feelings take shape, Ai no Gotoko gently unpacks how grief and love often intertwine—sometimes painfully, sometimes beautifully.

The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Soda Taishiro, Kubota Sho, Tanaka Sato, Yamasaki Mami, Yoshioka Mutsuo, Sato Masumi, Yoshimoto Miyoko, and Azuma Chizuru, each adding depth to the narrative with characters who mirror and challenge Hayao’s inner journey.

With themes of emotional reckoning and human connection, Ai no Gotoko promises to be a quiet but resonant work—one that contemplates how we move forward while still tethered to the echoes of our past.

Ai no Gotoko opens in theaters nationwide on January 23, 2026.
