Jo Aram is gearing up for her return to the small screen in MBC’s upcoming drama To the Moon, and she’s sharing fresh insights into her character, Kim Ji Song — a bold, relatable woman who embodies the modern spirit of “living in the moment.”

To the Moon is based on a novel of the same name and follows the survival story of three working-class women navigating financial struggles, friendships, and the volatile world of cryptocurrency. Lee Sun Bin stars as Jung Da Hae, a PR team member at Maron Confectionery who wasn’t hired through formal recruitment. Ra Mi Ran plays Kang Eun Sang, a loyal employee in the Management Support team. Jo Aram takes on the role of Kim Ji Song, an accounting staffer weighed down by credit card debt, yet still embracing a carefree, consumer-driven lifestyle.

Kim Ji Song represents the MZ generation’s YOLO mindset — unapologetically indulging in trends, love, and leisure, even while struggling financially. Jo Aram shared how this role gave her the opportunity to try something fresh: “In the past, I mostly played characters who didn’t openly show their emotions. But Ji Song is expressive, with room for a wide range of transformations. It gave me the chance to try many new things, and I put a lot of effort into it—so I hope viewers will look forward to it.”

She described Ji Song as someone who “stands out wherever she is, full of colorful charms and unmistakable presence.” When asked how similar she feels to her character, Jo Aram said, “I’d say we’re about 50 percent alike. The way Ji Song acts around Da Hae and Eun Sang is a lot like how I am with close friends or family—playful, affectionate, and chatty. Most of all, like Ji Song, I want to spend each day meaningfully and enjoyably.”

Speaking about what drew her to the drama, Jo Aram expressed a genuine connection to the story. “‘To the Moon’ is a heartwarming story about the friendship, dreams, and hopes of three women, told in a delightful way. When I first read the script, I remember flying through it. The characters felt so relatable, like people we see around us every day, which made it all the more engaging and easy to connect with.”

She concluded by emphasizing the deeper message of the drama: “It’s not just a story about cryptocurrency. It’s about three women leaning on each other and doing their best to get through life’s harsh realities. I hope viewers will find warmth, laughter, and comfort in their small but meaningful moments.”

To the Moon premieres on September 19 at 9:50 p.m. KST on MBC. Jo Aram’s performance promises to bring both emotional depth and lighthearted charm to this modern tale of resilience and friendship.
