The feature film Shibire, starring Kitamura Takumi and directed by Uchiyama Takuya—who also serves as screenwriter and illustrator—has been announced for a 2026 theatrical release. With Uchiyama’s distinctive storytelling style and visual sensibility, the film is expected to deliver an emotionally rich and artistically crafted narrative.

The story follows Daichi, a timid boy whose personality has been shaped by years of living under his domineering father. His mother, Aki, works in the entertainment industry to support the household and is rarely home, leaving the family strained both emotionally and financially. Eventually, Daichi moves in with his aunt, yet even there he feels he truly belongs nowhere.
Feeling displaced and desperate for answers, Daichi decides to return to his hometown to search for his father—an act that sets in motion a series of profound changes in his life. Through this journey, he gradually confronts the wounds he has long avoided and begins to redefine his own path forward.
Kitamura Takumi portrays Daichi in his young adult years, while Enomoto Tsukasa, Kato Anji, and Akimoto Yozuki play the character at different stages of childhood and adolescence. The cast also includes Miyazawa Rie and Nagase Masatoshi, whose presence adds further emotional depth to the film.
With its themes of growth, trauma, and the search for identity, Shibire is poised to become one of the notable drama films of 2026.
