The upcoming television drama Moto Kasoken no Onna stars Matsumoto Marika, with Yokoyama Yu of SUPER EIGHT and young actor Sato Tasuku taking on key roles. The series offers an intriguing mix of classic detective storytelling and intimate family narratives, shedding light on the realities and complexities of modern couples and households.

At the center of the story is Yoshioka Shiori, once celebrated as the “ace of the forensic science lab.” Having stepped away from her former career, she now dedicates herself to being a full-time homemaker. Yet her scientific reasoning and analytical skills remain sharp, allowing her to unravel mysteries that emerge within the ordinary rhythms of daily life. As she manages housework and cares for her five-year-old son Ryosuke, the child’s innocent perspective often brings refreshing clues to ongoing investigations.
Her husband Michihiko is a rookie detective recently assigned to the First Investigation Division. Although his deductive skills can be questionable, he occasionally achieves breakthroughs thanks to luck or instinct. Together, the family forms an unconventional investigative trio, balancing domestic life with unexpected cases that blend warmth with suspense.
Moto Kasoken no Onna is set to air from January 2026 in the “Drama 9” slot (Fridays at 21:00) on TV Tokyo and several affiliated networks, promising a gentle yet engaging approach to the detective genre.
