The original drama, aired in 2024, is a comedic story built around time travel. It follows Ogawa Ichiro, a middle-aged physical education teacher and advisor to a junior high baseball team. Known for his harsh language and inappropriate behavior, he carries the notorious nickname “Hell Ogawa.” One day in 1986, Ichiro unexpectedly leaps forward in time to 2024, setting off a chain of humorous yet reflective events.

This special episode continues directly from the drama’s 2025 finale. Ichiro once again travels across eras, not only returning to the Reiwa period but journeying through multiple timelines. Through Inushima Nagisa, who has just transferred to the news department, he encounters Tokyo City Council member Hira Junko and becomes involved in efforts to alter the future of Junko’s daughter. These new developments expand the narrative’s emotional reach while preserving its comedic foundation.

The cast also includes Isomura Hayato, Yoshida Yo, and Sakamoto Manato, whose performances are expected to enrich the dynamic of the special.

Shinnen Soso Futekisetsu ni mo Hodo ga Aru! will air on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 21:00 on TBS, offering a light-hearted yet heartfelt journey through shifting timelines.
