TV Osaka has announced a new comedic workplace drama, “Reiwa ni Kanno Shosetsu Tsukuttemasu” (“We’re Making Erotic Novels in the Reiwa Era”), starring Tokui Yoshimi (from Tutorial) and Momotsuki Nashiko. Adapted from a manga inspired by true events, the drama is rooted in the real-life workings of FRANCE SHOIN, a publisher famous for producing erotic novels.

The story follows Oizumi Mashiro (played by Momotsuki), a young woman who dreams of becoming a manga editor due to her passion for printed books—particularly BL (Boys’ Love). Believing she has finally joined her dream publishing house, Mashiro is shocked to discover that she has been assigned to the erotic novels editorial department instead. Upon cautiously entering the office, she finds chief editor Tamagawa Joji (played by Tokui) and his team engaged in a heated debate about the title of a new erotic novel involving “the person next door.” Crude vocabulary flying across the meeting room and the bold illustrations leave Mashiro stunned.

As Mashiro begins working with her eccentric yet competent supervisors and authors, she gradually adapts to the unique environment. She learns the artistry behind erotic fiction, discovers a sense of fulfillment in the editing process, and slowly grows into a skilled editor within the genre.

“Reiwa ni Kanno Shosetsu Tsukuttemasu” consists of 10 episodes and will premiere on January 7, 2026, airing every Wednesday at 24:00 on TV Osaka. With its humorous take on the lesser-known corners of the publishing world, the drama offers a fresh and entertaining look at workplace growth in the Reiwa era.
