Sugisaki Hana takes on the lead role in the television drama Fuyu no nanka sa, Haru no nanka sa, written and directed by Imaizumi Rikiya, known for his delicate storytelling and intimate portrayals of human relationships. The series continues his signature approach, using quiet emotional tension to explore how young adults confront love, hesitation, and personal growth.

The story follows Tsuchida Ayana, a 27-year-old novelist who has published two books and is currently working on her third manuscript. To support herself, she works part-time at a vintage clothing shop and is in a relationship. Yet, remnants of past romantic experiences have made her wary of “loving sincerely” or “facing someone wholeheartedly.” One day, she realizes it has been a long time since she genuinely said the words “I love you,” prompting her to revisit her past relationships and reflect on the emotional patterns that shaped her.
Caught between caution and longing, Ayana repeatedly questions herself: “Would it be better not to date someone important?” and “What exactly is love?” Despite her uncertainties, she continues forward, seeking to confront her current relationship with honesty and maturity.
Fuyu no nanka sa, Haru no nanka sa will air from January 2026 in the Wednesday 22:00 slot on NTV, offering a thoughtful and quietly resonant look at how one learns to love again.
