2025 MBC Entertainment Awards And Multiple Shows Confirm Key’s Departure Following Hiatus Announcement

Following SHINee member Key’s official statement regarding the suspension of his activities, the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards and several programs he had been appearing on have released brief announcements confirming his departure.

On December 17, the organizing committee of the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards stated that as Key, who had been scheduled to serve as an MC, expressed his intention to suspend activities, the production team decided to respect his wishes. As a result, this year’s ceremony will proceed with two MCs, Jun Hyun Moo and Jang Do Yeon, without adding a replacement.

The production teams of Key’s regular variety programs also addressed the matter. “Home Alone” announced that starting from upcoming recordings, Key will no longer participate in the show. “Amazing Saturday” similarly stated that it respects Key’s decision to suspend his activities and that he will not be joining future recordings.

In addition, YouTube channel DdeunDdeun, which produces the web variety program “THE CLOSET DETECTIVE: REBOOT,” announced that it will be halting further uploads of the show. The production team explained that after carefully considering the cast member’s position and surrounding circumstances, they decided to conclude the production of the program, while expressing gratitude to viewers for their continued support and understanding.

Previously, comedian Park Na Rae became embroiled in allegations related to receiving illegal medical services, including proxy prescriptions and intravenous treatments involving prescription drugs. Following the controversy, Park Na Rae stepped down from several programs, including “Home Alone,” “Where Is My Home,” and “Amazing Saturday.”

Key was later mentioned in related rumors after photos resembling his pet and messages allegedly exchanged with him were discovered on the social media account of the individual involved. On December 17, SM Entertainment released an official statement, and Key personally addressed the allegations, announcing his decision to step down from all programs he had been appearing on.
