Veteran singer Im Jae Beom has officially announced his retirement after an illustrious 40-year career, choosing to share the news through a heartfelt written message rather than a formal announcement or interview.

On January 4, Im Jae Beom posted a letter on YouTube, revealing his decision to step away from the stage following his ongoing 40th-anniversary nationwide tour. He is set to hold two final concerts at Seoul’s KSPO Dome on January 17 and 18, which will mark the closing chapter of his long performance career.

In the message, Im Jae Beom confessed that he had hesitated for a long time before making the announcement public. Each time he tried to speak the words out loud, emotion overtook him, making it difficult to address fans face-to-face. Writing, he explained, became the only way he could honestly convey his feelings.

While he shared that his passion still burns whenever he stands on stage, he also acknowledged a difficult reality: passion alone is no longer enough to sustain the physical and emotional demands of performing. The decision, he wrote, came after countless moments of reflection and inner struggle.

Recognizing how hard this choice would be for both himself and his fans, Im Jae Beom expressed deep gratitude alongside his apology. He credited fans as the very beginning of his musical journey and the reason he was able to endure for four decades. Even now, as he prepares to step away, he emphasized that they remain by his side.

Im Jae Beom also shared his hope that this decision would not diminish the years they spent together, nor become a farewell filled only with regret. For him, choosing to leave the stage voluntarily—at what he considers the most beautiful moment—was a way to preserve his pride and properly express his appreciation.

As he approaches his final concerts, he promised to give everything he has left, offering his remaining strength and soul to conclude the journey in his own way: quietly, sincerely, and with dignity until the very end.

He closed the letter by thanking everyone who loved his music and walked alongside him throughout the years, once again offering an apology and asking fans to remember these feelings warmly. It was not a dramatic goodbye, but a composed and deeply human farewell—one that reflected the essence of Im Jae Beom’s legacy on stage.
