On January 6, Korean outlet MyDaily reported that Park Min Young and BTOB’s Yook Sungjae are in discussions to lead the upcoming romance drama “Nine to Six” (literal title). Representatives from both sides later confirmed that the offers are “under discussion,” with the project reportedly being reviewed positively.

Nine to Six is based on the popular 2021 Chinese drama “The Rational Life” and follows the story of a woman who has long placed romance on the back burner due to her strong focus on work. After meeting a warm and considerate man, she gradually learns how to love, and the two grow together both professionally and personally. The series is expected to be directed by Lee Hyung Min, known for “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” and “Miss Night and Day,” and is reportedly slated to air on SBS.
Park Min Young has been offered the role of Kang Yi Ji, the head of the legal team at an automobile company. A devoted workaholic, she has never prioritized marriage, viewing romance and marriage as emotional outcomes driven largely by hormones. Rational and realistic by nature, she chooses quiet perseverance over reckless confrontation when faced with injustice.
Yook Sungjae is in talks to portray Han Seon Woo, a jewelry designer with a background in law school. Talented with his hands—whether in cooking or design—he approaches life with a relaxed attitude and displays a level of maturity beyond his years. He tends to act from the heart rather than overanalyze, especially in his relationship with Kang Yi Ji.
If confirmed, Nine to Six is expected to depict a grounded, modern romance between a rational career woman and a warm, emotionally intuitive man, offering a nuanced take on love and growth in contemporary working life.
