On January 27, Fantagio, the agency representing Cha Eun Woo, released an official statement addressing the recent controversy surrounding allegations related to tax issues. The company began by apologizing to the public, saying it felt a heavy sense of responsibility for the concern caused by matters involving both the agency and the artist.

According to Fantagio, the issue currently being discussed is still in the stage of fact-checking under the procedures of the tax authorities. Both the agency and Cha Eun Woo are cooperating with the investigation within the scope required of each party. The agency stated that once legal and administrative conclusions become clear, it will take any necessary measures in a responsible manner based on the outcome.

Fantagio also urged the public to refrain from indiscriminate speculation, the spread of unverified information, and excessive interpretation of the situation. The company added that it will use this incident as an opportunity to review its artist management system and strengthen relevant procedures in order to prevent similar controversies in the future.

Earlier, on January 22, local reports said that Cha Eun Woo had been investigated last year by the Seoul Regional Tax Office’s Investigation Bureau 4 on suspicion of tax evasion, and that the National Tax Service had notified him of an additional tax assessment exceeding 20 billion won. On January 26, Cha Eun Woo addressed the issue and apologized through his personal social media account. The matter is currently still under review as the investigation continues.
