Takahashi Issei has been confirmed as the lead actor in the upcoming film “Rhapsody Rhapsody,” directed and written by Riju Go. The project marks Riju Go’s return to the director’s chair for the first time in 13 years since his 2012 work “Sayonara Debussy.”
“Rhapsody Rhapsody” is a humanistic comedy that follows a socially withdrawn man whose quiet life takes an unexpected turn after he discovers that he is legally married without any memory of it. The film approaches its unusual premise with humor and warmth, exploring themes of connection, chance, and emotional awakening.

The story centers on Natsuno Mikio (Takahashi Issei), who visits city hall to renew his passport. While there, he happens to receive a copy of his family register and is stunned to see the entry “Relationship: Wife.” Mikio has no recollection of ever being married. Upon learning that a woman named Natsuno Shigeko had unilaterally registered their marriage, he begins searching for her. His search leads him to a small flower shop on a quiet street corner, where he finally meets Shigeko, whose remarkably clumsy and unpredictable behavior leaves a deep impression on him.
The film also stars Kureshiro Kumi, Serizawa Tateto, Okata Hisako, Sekiguchi Kazuyuki, and Ikewaki Chizuru, rounding out a cast that brings depth and nuance to this offbeat yet emotionally grounded story.

“Rhapsody Rhapsody” is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 1.
