MBC has released the first character stills of Byeon Woo Seok for its upcoming drama Perfect Crown, drawing attention to his transformation into a royal figure defined by restraint and quiet authority. Set in an alternate reality where modern-day Korea operates as a constitutional monarchy, the series tells a romance shaped by status, limitation, and public gaze.
The story follows Sung Hee Joo (IU), a chaebol heiress who seemingly has everything yet remains a commoner in social rank, and Grand Prince Yi An (Byeon Woo Seok), a prince who paradoxically possesses nothing despite being the king’s son. Yi An is the late king’s only younger brother, a man raised under strict royal rules that forbid him from standing out. As the second son, he is expected to stay in the background, suppressing his voice and presence.
Despite these constraints, the public selects Yi An as “the most beloved royal in the Republic of Korea.” His refined appearance, composed demeanor, and understated charisma earn him overwhelming public support, positioning him as a symbolic figure whose influence extends beyond the palace walls.
