Light of Dawn opens with a long-buried skeleton and gradually unravels a hidden chapter of the city’s past. Gao Feng and Wu Fei Fei, two individuals who seemingly had no reason to cross paths, find their lives intertwined through a series of unexpected events and shared secrets.

Gao Feng has spent his entire life searching for his biological parents, yet any mention of his origins—especially his mother—has always been met with silence from his foster parents. His decision to enroll in the police academy further strains the already fragile relationship with his foster father. Before any reconciliation can occur, his foster father dies under ambiguous circumstances. Though officially attributed to illness, the evasive behavior of both his foster mother and the local detective raises Gao Feng’s suspicions.
Determined to uncover the truth, Gao Feng retraces his foster father’s final days and discovers repeated meetings with a mysterious woman near the town square, along with large payments made to a scammer who claimed to know the truth about his mother. Yet every lead ultimately circles back to the massive lion statue in the square, offering questions but no clear answers.

At the same time, Wu Fei Fei is grappling with secrets of her own. The only daughter of one of the city’s wealthiest men, she is preparing to marry Xu Zhi Yang, a union framed as romance but rooted in business interests. On the eve of the wedding, Fei Fei clashes with Wang Dan, Zhi Yang’s mistress, who has been threatening to expose compromising evidence. During the confrontation, Wang Dan falls unconscious, leading Fei Fei to believe she has caused her death—only to later discover that the body has vanished.

Fei Fei soon learns that her father has intervened, placing Wang Dan under strict surveillance in a hospital to prevent further complications. Despite knowing the truth about Zhi Yang’s infidelity, her father insists that the marriage proceed. On the wedding day, however, Wang Dan escapes and crashes her car into the statue in the town square, triggering the discovery of a skeleton buried beneath it.
The investigation reveals a DNA match between the remains and Gao Feng’s long-circulated samples, while the identity of the skeleton points back to Wu Fei Fei’s father’s company. Adding another layer of irony, Fei Fei had been taught since childhood to pray at the statue, believing it would guide her toward her late mother.
As Gao Feng and Wu Fei Fei finally meet, they begin to realize that their personal quests for identity are part of a much larger web of deception and power. With truths deliberately withheld and motives constantly obscured, Light of Dawn unfolds as a tightly constructed mystery, inviting viewers to question not only what is hidden, but who ultimately benefits from the silence.
