Chinese short-drama actress Yue Yuting recently drew attention after appearing in Paris during Fashion Week, though her absence from a scheduled fashion show quickly became a topic of online discussion.
On March 7, Yue Yuting was photographed in Paris wearing an off-shoulder black dress that highlighted her elegant style. The appearance came shortly after she announced that she had been invited to attend Paris Fashion Week, describing herself as the first short-drama actress to receive such an invitation. According to earlier posts, Yue Yuting planned to attend the runway shows of BALMAIN and ELIE SAAB, two luxury fashion houses participating in the event.

However, on the day of the BALMAIN show, Yue Yuting’s studio and fan club released a statement saying that she would be unable to attend due to “force majeure.” The announcement quickly sparked discussion among internet users, especially because Yue Yuting was already in Paris at the time and had not reported any health or safety issues.
The situation also led some observers to question whether the invitation had been officially issued by the brand. Up to that point, Yue Yuting had not publicly displayed an official invitation letter, which fueled speculation about the nature of her participation.
At 24 years old, Yue Yuting has become a prominent figure in China’s rapidly growing short-drama industry. Her representative work Gong Xin Wei Shang 《攻心为上》 reportedly accumulated more than 2.6 million saves, helping establish Yue Yuting as one of the most recognizable actresses in the field. She is also known for maintaining an independent career path without signing with a traditional talent agency, a decision that has contributed to her “grassroots” image among fans.
Despite her popularity in short dramas, some observers noted that Yue Yuting’s presence at Paris Fashion Week appeared different from that of other celebrities invited by luxury brands. For example, official social media accounts of BALMAIN highlighted several attending celebrities but did not mention Yue Yuting, leading to further online speculation.

Amid the discussion, a social media user claiming to be a high-level VIP customer of several luxury brands alleged that Yue Yuting was not included on the official guest list. The user suggested that if she wanted to attend the ELIE SAAB show afterward, she might have to rely on other arrangements such as secondary invitations or media passes.
Some online commenters speculated that Yue Yuting may have obtained access to the BALMAIN show through a media or intermediary channel rather than a direct brand invitation. According to these claims, the publicity surrounding her planned appearance may have prompted the brand to review the situation, which allegedly resulted in her attendance being canceled.
So far, Yue Yuting has not provided further clarification regarding these allegations. As discussions continue online, many observers are watching to see whether Yue Yuting will respond to the speculation surrounding her participation in the Paris Fashion Week events.
