The drama Jiangshan Wei Pin, starring Wu Jinyan and Chen Zheyuan, has reportedly halted production due to unpaid wages, following similar incidents involving Li Hongyi and Zhang Yifan’s Qi Luo An Tuo. The news has drawn widespread attention within the industry.

Multiple alleged crew members and extras, including a user identified as “You Wei,” revealed that the production has stopped due to funding issues, with plans to shoot in Northwest China canceled. The halt has reportedly lasted over 24 hours, and tensions on set are said to be high.

The suspension mirrors recent stoppages of other productions such as Li Hongyi’s Qi Luo An Tuo and Deng Wei’s Feng Yue Bu Xiang Guan, reflecting the current financial challenges facing the Chinese entertainment industry. Sources indicate that the drama was originally scheduled to begin filming in July but was delayed to August due to investment-related issues attributed to producer Yu Zheng. Subsequent attempts at on-the-go financing failed repeatedly, causing the production’s cash flow to break down and salaries for crew and extras to be delayed.

Earlier, the drama had already faced controversy over actor billing order, including handwritten names at the opening ceremony, deletion of comment threads on the official Weibo, and the producer liking critical posts. Such incidents reportedly undermined industry trust and negatively affected subsequent investment. In this context, the halt in production was not entirely unexpected.

Producer Yu Zheng attempted to address concerns indirectly via Weibo, stating that he had discussed follow-up plans with Wu Jinyan and mentioning eight upcoming costume drama projects under consideration. Some netizens interpreted this as an attempt to divert attention from the wage dispute. Yu Zheng did not directly comment on the unpaid salaries, instead posting behind-the-scenes photos to suggest that filming was still ongoing.

Wu Jinyan and Chen Zheyuan have not publicly responded to the production halt. However, Chen Zheyuan’s fans have urged his studio to “collect evidence of contract violations to protect his rights.” If the production does not resume soon, the one-month filming schedule could face a rushed or incomplete conclusion, similar to the situation with Feng Yue Bu Xiang Guan.

Currently, Jiangshan Wei Pin is caught in a “wage and production halt” dilemma, with crew members reporting funding issues while the production team avoids addressing the core problem. Whether the drama can overcome these challenges depends on timely intervention from investors, and the risk of the project being abandoned grows if the stalemate persists.
