The Chinese crime investigation drama 《风过留痕》The Truth, starring Gong Jun, has confirmed its premiere date for February 3. Ahead of its release, the series has surpassed 2 million reservations, positioning it as one of the most anticipated titles during the Lunar New Year season and the only drama in that period to focus primarily on the crime genre.

The series is adapted from a novel by former police officer-turned-writer Jiu Di Shui, whose work draws directly from real criminal case files. Centered on forensic trace analysis, 《风过留痕》The Truth stands out as a rare Chinese drama that builds its narrative around this specialized field, emphasizing the principle that every crime scene leaves behind physical evidence.

Significant attention was given to production authenticity. Approximately 12 million yuan was invested in recreating a professional trace analysis laboratory, while retired veteran detectives participated as consultants to ensure accuracy in investigative procedures. Structurally, the drama follows a “three episodes per case” format, covering a total of 11 major criminal cases, allowing for both detailed investigation and a steady narrative pace.

Gong Jun plays Ye Qian, a trace analysis specialist who has returned from overseas training. While Ye Qian is portrayed as calm and methodical in his professional role, he displays a freer, more spontaneous personality in his personal life, including a fondness for motorcycle riding. This contrast adds depth to the character and contributes to the drama’s appeal.

In addition to 《风过留痕》The Truth, Gong Jun is set to appear in two other leading roles in 2026: the legal drama Family Affairs Court and the historical series White-Robed Minister. As all three projects feature characters working within government or public institutions, fans have begun referring to them collectively as an informal “institutional roles trilogy.”
