The film High School Family, starring Shingo Katori, is set to hit theaters this autumn. Based on the manga of the same name by Ryo Nakama, the movie presents a lighthearted comedy built on an absurd premise: an entire family attending high school together. The main cast also includes Riisa Naka, Jun Saito, and Yuno Nagao.

The story begins on the morning of Kotaro Ietani’s high school entrance ceremony. Just as Kotaro (played by Jun Saito) prepares to start what he assumes will be a typical school life, his father Ichiro (Shingo Katori) casually announces that he will be enrolling at the same high school. The surprises do not stop there. Kotaro’s mother Shizuka (Riisa Naka), his elementary school–aged younger sister Haruka (Yuno Nagao), and even the family’s pet cat Gomez all end up becoming his “classmates.”
As a result, Kotaro’s daily life quickly turns chaotic, as he is constantly dragged into one situation after another caused by his unconventional family. Through exaggerated humor and role reversals, the film explores themes of adolescence, family dynamics, and everyday struggles, offering a playful yet affectionate look at what it means to grow up—together.
