The film Watashi wa Anata wo Shiranai, starring Kentaro Sakaguchi, is scheduled to be released in late summer this year. The project is a Japan–France co-production, developed in collaboration with French company Pyramide Productions, and is set to be distributed in France, marking another step in Sakaguchi’s international career.

The story centers on Nishiyama Yuhei, a 28-year-old man who grew up as an orphan and now lives a quiet, regimented life. He works diligently, follows a fixed routine, and spends his days alone, keeping an emotional distance from those around him. His life begins to shift when he meets Satsuki, a new part-time employee at his workplace.

As their relationship develops, Satsuki introduces Yuhei to her five-year-old daughter. Through the everyday moments they share together, Yuhei gradually experiences a sense of warmth and belonging that he has long been missing. Living alongside Satsuki and her child allows him to confront his deep-seated longing for a family and slowly open his heart to human connection.

Focusing on subtle emotions and understated storytelling, Watashi wa Anata wo Shiranai explores themes of loneliness, companionship, and the meaning of home through ordinary life. Sakaguchi’s portrayal of Yuhei is expected to highlight his restrained and introspective acting style, while the film itself aims to resonate with audiences across cultural boundaries.
