MBC’s upcoming drama “Perfect Crown” has unveiled its first stills featuring Noh Sang Hyun and Gong Seung Yeon, offering a glimpse into the power dynamics at the heart of the story.
Set in an alternate universe where modern-day Korea operates as a constitutional monarchy, “Perfect Crown” centers on a love story that defies social status and fate. IU stars as Sung Hee Joo, a chaebol heiress who seemingly has everything yet remains a commoner by birth, while Byeon Woo Seok plays Grand Prince Yi An, a royal son who possesses status but nothing else.

Noh Sang Hyun portrays Prime Minister Min Jung Woo, the eldest son of a prominent political family that has long stood at the center of power. Following in the footsteps of both his grandfather and father, former prime ministers, Min Jung Woo is admired for his striking appearance, intelligence, and warm demeanor, earning him the reputation of being the nation’s most eligible bachelor. Despite his polished exterior, he rarely reveals his true emotions, except in front of Grand Prince Yi An, his childhood friend. After Yi An decides to marry Sung Hee Joo, subtle emotional shifts begin to surface within Min Jung Woo, casting uncertainty over the arranged union.

Gong Seung Yeon stars as Queen Dowager Yoon Yi Rang, a central figure within the royal family. Born into an elite lineage that has produced four queens, she was raised to suppress her emotions and accept her destiny with composure. After her young son ascends the throne, her position as queen dowager places her at the heart of royal authority. However, the growing public support surrounding Grand Prince Yi An begins to unsettle her, raising questions about whether she can ultimately protect her son and her own fate.
In the newly released stills, Min Jung Woo and Yoon Yi Rang project elegance and authority at the core of politics and royalty. Min Jung Woo exudes the refined charisma of a prime minister, while Yoon Yi Rang embodies the dignity and restraint of the royal family’s highest-ranking matriarch.
“Perfect Crown” is scheduled to premiere in April.
